The Sacred History of Baradi Betta Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy Temple

Baradi Betta Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy Temple is a revered ancient hill shrine deeply rooted in sacred tradition and devotion. According to the temple's traditional history, the origin of this holy kshetra is associated with the events of the Ramayana.
It is believed that after the victory over Ravana in Lanka, Lord Rama sought to atone for the sin of Brahmahatya and was advised by sages to consecrate Shiva Lingas at sacred places. As part of this divine mission, Lord Rama instructed Lord Anjaneya (Hanuman) to bring a Shiva Linga from Kashi.
While Hanuman was away, the auspicious time for consecration arrived. To ensure that the sacred ritual was performed at the proper muhurta, Lord Rama and Goddess Sita fashioned a Shiva Linga and consecrated it on Baradi Betta. When Hanuman later returned with the Linga from Kashi, the divine significance of the consecrated Linga was already established.
From that time onwards, the deity came to be worshipped as Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy, and the sacred hill became a place of faith and pilgrimage. Devotees believe that the Lord blesses those who seek His grace with sincerity and devotion.
Over the years, thousands of devotees have visited this holy shrine to pray for health, prosperity, family welfare, marriage, children, and relief from life's difficulties. The temple continues to be a centre of spiritual faith, attracting devotees from different places who come to experience divine blessings and inner peace.
The temple complex also includes the shrines of Sri Parvathi Amma, Sri Sita-Rama-Anjaneya Swamy, Sri Vigneshwara, Sri Subrahmanya Swamy, Navagrahas, Nagadevata and Gangamata, making Baradi Betta a spiritually significant destination for devotees.
Today, Baradi Betta Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy Temple stands as a symbol of devotion, heritage, and sacred tradition, preserving its spiritual legacy for future generations.
